Manali vs Kasol: which one fits your group
Pick Manali if...
You want more infrastructure: more hotel options, more cafes and restaurants, easier snow activities at Solang, and a wider range of things to do across different budgets. It's also the better base if your group wants a mix of adventure activities and easy sightseeing.
Pick Kasol if...
Your group wants a slower, quieter trip built around the river, cafes and maybe one trekking day to Kheerganga. It suits smaller groups and travellers who don't need a packed sightseeing schedule to feel like the trip was worth it.
Or do both
They're close enough, roughly 2 to 3 hours apart, that a 6 to 7 day trip covering both is one of our most common Himachal itineraries. Manali first for the bigger sightseeing days, Kasol at the end to slow things down before heading home.
