Manali splits fairly clearly into three stay zones, and which one fits depends more on your group's pace than on budget.

Luxury, budget, groups and transport
Luxury and premium
A handful of 5-star and luxury-resort options sit around Manali and further up the valley toward Naggar, usually the pick for honeymoons and smaller premium groups.
Budget-smart
Old Manali and the lanes just off Mall Road carry the widest range of clean, budget-smart guesthouses.
Groups
For a college batch or large family group we usually block rooms in one central-Manali property rather than splitting across areas, so everyone can walk to the same breakfast table.
Getting around
Central Manali and Mall Road properties work fine without a dedicated vehicle for a day. Naggar and outskirt resorts need a car or the Tempo Traveller we've already arranged for your trip.
