About this trip
Mount Abu is the only hill station in Rajasthan, which makes it the summer escape for most of Gujarat and western Rajasthan. Nakki lake sits at the centre with the town around it.
The real reason to come is Dilwara: five Jain temples whose marble carving is so fine it is hard to photograph properly. Photography is not permitted inside, which is part of why it stays special.
How to reach: Rail to Abu Road then a half hour climb by road, or a direct drive from Udaipur or Ahmedabad.
When not to go: Peak monsoon weeks when viewpoints are fogged out
Trip highlights
- Dilwara Jain temples and their marble work
- Nakki lake and boating
- Sunset Point and Honeymoon Point
- Guru Shikhar, the highest point in the Aravallis
- Achalgarh fort and the Mount Abu wildlife sanctuary
