About this trip
Coorg, or Kodagu, is coffee country: rolling estates, pepper vines wrapped around the shade trees, and mist that sits in the valleys most mornings from September onwards.
It is the standard long weekend from Bengaluru, and the best of it is not the viewpoints but the estate stays themselves.
How to reach: Five to six hours by road from Bengaluru, three from Mysore. No rail line into Coorg itself.
When not to go: Peak monsoon in July and August, when landslides can close roads
